Panenské ostrovy je souostroví v Karibském moři v severní části Malých Antil. Dělí se na Britské Panenské ostrovy a Americké Panenské ostrovy. Původně byly nazvány Kryštofem Kolumbem Santa Ursula (svatá Voršila) a Las Once Mil Virgines (11 000 panen).

První poštovní známky Britských Panenských ostorvů byly vydány v roce 1866 v tiskárně Nissen & Parker. Známky v nominálních hodnotách 1 pence - 6 pencí byly zhotoveny lithografickou metodou s vyobrazením sv. Voršily. O roku 1878 pak vycházely známky z produkce tiskárny De La Rue.
